Social Media for Beginners Course Sept 11- Oct 1: 10am- 1pm
The Social Media Beginners Course may be taken as a stand alone course or as part of the Social Media Program. Students successfully completing the 6 classes + 6 optional labs will have a hand on understanding of content, messaging, and learn performance metrics of modern social media.
Here is the Fall 2024 course syllabus: Classes are 10am-1pm. Early registration is required.
Sept 11th: Intro to popular platforms, and how each platform works differently for audiance reach, purpose.
Sept 12th: Social Media Lab Analysis of a popular platform: choose a platform per student/group, analyze the similarities
Sep 16th: We go over Measurables. What they mean, and how they work, and how to manipulate them for your needs. Students are critiqued on a practice exercise.
Sept 17th: Social Media Lab Find and analyze engaging content to generate measurables that are meaningful on the social media.
Sept 18th: Speaking the language of a Digital Marketing Manager. Social Media Lab GAME Terminology speed round and using AI to create compelling content.
Sept 19th: Students create, brand, workshop, and measure their results.
Sept 23rd: Learning to read the Data. Learning to be efficient. Students will workshop examples and engage with each other to come up with clickable content.
Sept 24th: As a group go through the CMS of a website – find the data, and analyze it.
Sept 25th: Video/Livecast platforms, and influencers. How to find them, follow them, and get your content up to par so they will actively follow you.
Sept 26th: Social Media Lab Create your own engaging 10 minute video content!
Sept 30th: Podcast Platforms that are free and popular. Choosing based on your agenda.
Oct 1st: Social Media Lab Create your own 10 minute Podcast.
